7.3.2.1 Hyundai Auto Production Base
Overseas production of Hyundai group (Hyundai + Kia) increased by 13% over 2014 to 4.1 million units in 2015, which was another new record, thanks to the expansion of production in overseas plants and the introduction of new models. Hyundai and Kia produced 2.9 million and 1.2 million units respectively. Moreover, overseas production share (Hyundai 61%, Kia 43%) of total domestic and overseas production was 54.3%, which rose 3.3% over the previous year.
By the region, production in China ranked at the top (1.6 mil units) followed by Europe (948,000) units, USA (769,000 units), and India (633,000 units). In the 2010s, the production capacity in China showed the highest growth (Figs. 7.9 and 7.10).
